Longest Ride of the Year

Today I set out on my longest ride of the year.

I've been dying to get up into higher country and rode up to Swede's from the house. It was a fantastic day and I rode 33-34 miles in all.

Woohooooo

I finally rode the Mrazak today. And all I can say is "Woohoooo!" That was the most fun I've had on two wheels. While I had to hike up a few rocks on the way up, I was able to ride most of them down. And the new section of trail that was added last year was so fun I wanted to go ride it again and again and again. I think I just found my new favorite trail. I'm looking forward to going up to the Farewell Trail and trying that out. What a freakin fun ride!

Spring Ride

It was time to get out and ride. The weather hasn't exactly been cooperative. Rain on and off for a week. Since it rained yesterday morning, I decided to hit the road for a quick, time-crunched 15 mile ride. I rode through a little rain and overall enjoyed the nice ride. I made it back in time to watch Thing 1's class report oral presentation. One of the kids in his class was quite fascinated with my appearance. She wanted to see my "funny" shoes and the pockets on my shirt. Very cute.

300 Days of Sunshine a Year?

Given the rain since Friday, I have serious doubts as to whether that's really true or not. Since my ride on Thursday was so horrendous, I took Friday off, Sat off because of the rain showers and rode inside on Sunday. By the time Memorial Day arrived, I was chomping at the bit to get outside...so rain be damned. I made my way out for a late afternoon ride out KGB to Kent's down Phil's and back home via KGB. It rained but I didn't get too soaked. It was just nice to get out for a while.

Guess what the weather is for today...showers with a chance of sunshine. Since it was raining so heavy this morning, the trails are probably still a bit mucky. I think it will be either a short road ride or a little indoor interval day.

She's Back

The new bike is back from the shop. Yeah!!!! We went on a ride Monday out the COD to Grand Slam and back home via KGB. I'm always amazed at how much better I ride the new bike over the rocks. I guess 100mm of travel makes a big difference. Usually I would not want to ride the rocky sections of COD (I'm a wimp) but this time I rode more of it than I have before and even some new stuff. Now if only my lungs would get in line and give me some recovery over some of the harder stuff.

We're Having a Heat Wave

The mercury has risen above 90 today and it was the perfect day for a mtn bike ride. Too bad my new ride is STILL in the shop with no rear shock in sight. (Note to self...a nice little letter to Specialized might be in order here...) So I broke out my old GT and went for a 2 hour ride up the KGB to Kents down Phils and back home via KGB. I really enjoyed the ride on the old steed. It felt like coming home.

Riding the Road

The weather has been great for the last few weeks. It's allowed me to ride my new mountain bike and what a fun ride it is. Unforntunately, my rear shock went kaput after about 20 hours of riding and is sitting down at Hutch's awaiting a new one from Specialized. It's supposed to be 2-3 days. Soooo...for the first time in many, many years, I'm riding the road again. And I mean really riding the road. The last few years, since living in So Cal, I gave-up riding the road and rode my road bike on the bike path instead. The traffic freaked me out. But things are different here.

I rolled out the "pocket-rocket" and went up Skyliner Road the other day. Today, though, I went on a little adventure out to Tumalo via Johnson. What fun I had. I forgot how fun the road can be. The temp was perfect, little wind and clear, blue skies beckoned me to go much further than the hour I had originally allocated. I figure I rode about 25 miles today, 2 hours in total.

Hopefully, my mtn bike will be back in time for the first weekend of the year in the 90's. But if not, I have a quiver of bikes to choose from and the roadie may be my first choice.
